My Experience using Social Media #1

For my first weekly reflection, I will be discussing my personal experience using social media. I was introduced to social media in grade six; all my friends had it. At first, I was making Musicallys (TikTok) at lunch hour with my friends and then moved to taking photos and sharing them with others on Snapchat.

Today, social media has a large impact on how children learn, share, and communicate. Whenever I need inspiration for decorating, ideas for making dinner, or to see the latest fashion trends, I pick up my phone. My go-to app is TikTok and Instagram, where so many ideas are at your fingertips. However, social media also poses privacy risks, and it’s essential to be aware of what you share online.

When I become a teacher, I will demonstrate how to use social media professionally to my students. My goal is to become a content creator and share my ideas with other teachers across the world. In order to reach this goal, I have a lot to learn about the art of social media content creation.

While social media can help to bring people together, connect and learn, it can also be harmful by creating an unrealistic reality that people strive to achieve and creating distractions for students.
