Stop Motion #2
In my group, we created a Stop motion video that tells a story of a deer and a moose that ends up eating a ladybug and a squirrel. We were going to just simply do a more calm scene with the ladybugs and have the bees come in and pollinate the flowers with this beautiful calm scenery but things turned for the worse. We decided to have an unexpected, funny (ish) ending to our stop motion story because children love that kind of stuff, When things are unexpected like that they all giggle and be like “Hey thats not supposed to happen” and will catch things like that right away and comment on your crazy imagination, but it inspires kids to use their own imagination. By using stop motion, we were able to bring our story to life in a way that a traditional video could not achieve, highlighting the fun of hands on learning and visual storytelling.

I envision using stop motion videos in my classroom to support learning in multiple ways and also as a way to incorporate technology into my classroom. For younger students, it can make bigger concepts seem more simpler. For example you could get all the kids to create stop motion videos to demonstrate the cycle of a plant, the movement of planets, or simple science experiments. It also encourages kids to work together and develop planning skills for planning how the video will start and finish, the students must storyboard and execute their ideas step by step in order to develop a stop motion film. Stop motion videos can help students express themselves in a creative different kind of way. By integrating stop motion into my own classroom one day i hope to foster unlimited curiosity and imagination.
